Itinerary

Your safari will start with a pick-up at JKIA. You will then drive to Samburu National Reserve. On your way, you will have a stopover at the equator line in Nanyuki for a hemispheres demonstration. You'll proceed and arrive in time for lunch and check in at King Lion Bush Camp. You'll freshen up and have a hot lunch. At around 4 pm after having some time to rest, you will proceed for an afternoon game drive. The main highlights of this reserve are the Samburu's Special Five (also known as rare northern species); they include Grevy's zebra, gerenuk, reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, and Beisa oryx. Apart from Samburu's Special Five, the reserve is also home to a population of close to 900 elephants, all three big cats (the lion, cheetah, and African leopard), among many other animals. After the game drive, you will head to the camp to freshen up and proceed for a freshly prepared hot dinner. Later, you'll have an overnight stay at the camp.

You will wake before dawn for the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to witness a sunrise. After a quick cup of coffee, you'll head out into the park to watch as the sun sets fire to the savannah and the big cats take advantage of the morning cool to search for a meal. The game viewing in Samburu Game Reserve is done mostly very early in the morning and late in the afternoon when the sun has cooled off. You'll then return to your camp for a late breakfast and relaxation at the hotel swimming pool. Hot lunch is served at the lodge. Thereafter, you'll head out to the park for an afternoon exploration. You will return to the camp for an overnight stay in the evening. The location of your accommodation gives you more opportunities to view wildlife while sitting by your accommodation.

You will have breakfast and then depart to the predator-rich Ol Pejeta Conservancy with a stopover at the equator crossing. The Conservancy also contains 2 prominent sanctuaries, one for chimpanzees and another for rhinos. You will arrive and check in at King Lion Bush Camp followed by lunch. In the afternoon, you will head for a game drive in the conservancy. The Conservancy has great numbers of wildlife including all of the Big Five; elephant, rhino, lion, leopard, and buffalo. Your dinner and overnight stay will be at your accommodation.

Early in the morning, you’ll drive to Lake Naivasha, one of Kenya's freshwater lakes located to the northwest of Nairobi. You'll arrive in time for lunch and check in at your accommodations. In the afternoon, you'll go on a boat ride and a nature walk within the animal sanctuary. In the evening, you’ll watch the sunset on the African horizon. Lake Naivasha is also renowned for its rich avian diversity, boasting over 385 bird species, making it a true haven for bird enthusiasts. You’ll also see large families of hippos.

Your last two nights will be spent in one of Africa's most renowned game reserves, the Masai Mara. The Mara is situated within the Rift Valley in the southern part of Kenya. It is known for its rich concentration of wildlife, including the Big Five (elephants, lions, leopards, rhinos, and buffalos), zebras, antelopes, hartebeests, and the black-maned lion. It is also internationally acclaimed for the remarkable wildebeest migration, a captivating spectacle where animals cross the Mara River between mid-June and October. On the first day, you’ll go on a game drive from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm followed by dinner and your overnight stay at the camp.

On your second day in the Mara, you’ll spend even more time exploring its extensive grassland savannahs. Your activities and movements today will be dictated by the wildlife’s migration patterns and the prevailing weather conditions. For those seeking an adrenaline rush, you can opt for an early morning balloon safari over the Mara plains, which can be arranged for an additional cost. Additionally, a visit to the nearby traditional Maasai communities offers you a valuable glimpse into their rich culture and time-honored traditions.
